Marc VedoFrom May 2004, Marc will be taking to the international stage, as the Koolwaters team will be staging more of their global parties in such countries as Canada, China, Central/South America, Ireland, Russia and South Africa.
Koolwaters have recently secured a deal with one of the worlds leading hair product manufacturers, Wella. The deal, which will see Koolwaters head resident DJ Marc Vedo mixing an album consisting of entirely unsigned music, is a fantastic opportunity for the club and Marc to open the doors to a wider audience of music enthusiasts. As 45,000 CD albums will be played and distributed across 1,800 salons through out the UK.
Biography:
The DJ:
Portuguese deck maestro, Marc Vedo is a DJ with a pedigree of years of experience, and is still in his mid- twenties. A most sought after DJ, with his own club brand blowing up dance floors across the UK and a soaring international career playing regularly for the biggest names in the scene. Marc’s been making a lasting impression on clubbers everywhere with his uplifting funky sounds and his peak time hard trance sets. Having risen from the South West of England, to become one of its biggest exports to dance music, playing at many of the worlds leading club brands from Godskitchen and Ministry of Sound to UK festivals such as Homeland’s and Escape in the park, Marc is now regarded by many as one of the UK’s leading DJ’s in his field of trance/ hard trance, a tag that is quickly making him a world wide floorfiller and mainstay on the international circuit. His trademark sets of hard tech-trance and quality uplifting house music have seen Marc’s Djing capture mass appeal from dance floors and their audiences across the globe. Anyone who has ever experienced one of his creative sets can relate to his fast paced, energetic and uplifting sounds. His hard trance sets fuses tough, techno beats with the more melodic and tech sounds of trance, yet with house his sets consist of a driven funky beats, through to tough and chunky house grooves with elements of a twisted disco funk variety. Marc’s sets are a testament to his experience and knowledge of how to rock and keep rocking crowd’s, all night long.
Combine this with his incredible technical ability, and it is easy to see what prompted Mixmag to dub him ‘the next Sasha’ a few years back, all in all some would say Marc has the complete package and the makings of a modern day superstar DJ.
A bit premature perhaps for such a young fledgling talent, but DMC also recognized the potential and were the first agency to sign him, along side Naughty but Nice giving Marc his first high profile club residency. Sundissential were next recruiting Marc as a full resident, with Miss Moneypennies and Slinky following suit shortly after. Marc’s residency with the legendary Miss Moneypennies lasted for 5 years and Slinky for 3 years. Over the last few years he has also featured regularly both home and abroad for many of the best organisations in the global dance scene such as Serious, Ministry of Sound, Lashed, Escape, Progress, Dance Academy, Transaction, Urban Bug, The Candy Store, Time Flies and Cream. The next stage in Marc’s career involves bringing Koolwaters to an even greater global audience. To further this goal, Marc and Koolwaters have teamed up with Red Parrot DJ Agency, whose international experience will help to cement Marc Vedo as a world class DJ and Koolwaters has a leading global event organisation.
Though he will continuing to feature in the plans of Koolwaters Artist Management, Marc will be joining such globe-trotters such as Boy George, Lisa Loud and Brandon Block as he becomes part of Red Parrot’s Artists roaster.
Since 2000, Marc has played a variety of UK festivals from Glastonbury to Virgins V2 events, 2000 also saw Marc play at all three of Slinky’s Westpoint Arena events in Exeter. Each event saw Marc play to an audience crowd of 7000 alongside some of the industry’s biggest stars in Carl Cox, Judge Jules and Ferry Corsten. On New Years Eve 2003 Marc played, in his own words “my biggest gig to date”, headlining for Ministry of Sound. His set saw him play to the beautiful backdrop of Diani Beach in Mombassa and to a crowd size 3000 strong. In August 2004 Marc was also booked to play the closing set in the Nukluez hard dance arena at Wales biggest dance festival Escape in the Park, live on Galaxy.
Having been demonstrating his ability at the highest level, both at home in the UK and on the international circuit for many years, it is no wonder he has been making a lasting impression on clubbers everywhere. Having played across the four corners of the globe for the last 6 years, Marc has steadily developed a strong and loyal fan base none more so than those who attend Koolwaters events. The reaction he gets from the crowd often outshines the big name guest DJ’s and which is a testimony of his popularity with the Koolwaters faithful.
“Sasha better watch out, Marc is not going to be a resident for long” - Mixmag
The Promoter:
As musical director of Koolwaters Marc has spent the last four years pioneering the clubs trance based image Koolwaters, by both promoting and Djing full time for the club. However recently the club has taken the opportunity to explore many different possibilities, themes and ideas. Though only in its infancy, this new direction for Koolwaters, has seen Marc book and play along side many of the scenes biggest and best house DJ’s, earning the club a wider audience and further acclaim by all reputable dance and culture magazines. Over the last few years Koolwaters has featured in over 25 countries and has staged well over 400 events, some of these countries include China, Germany, Japan, Portugal, Turkey and Russia.
One of the biggest dates in Marc’s own diary with Koolwaters was the clubs 2004 club tour in Canada, which saw Marc headline alongside Boy George and several Canadian based DJ’s such as Cary Chang and Amnes (Live). The tour saw Koolwaters feature at some of Canada’s biggest and best dance clubs of which included – The Government, Caprice, System Sound, The Standard, Vivid Session Sonar and The Whiskey Club.
One of Marc's most important accomplishments in 2003 was the success of Koolwaters 2nd joint festival – Bug Hole, with Turkish clubbing outfit Urban Bug.
More than 30,000 people attended the festival on the Turkish coastline, with sponsorship from the likes of Coca-Cola and Smirnoff Ice. The event itself saw over 100 DJ’s play with acts like The Chemical Brothers and Sasha topping the bill, the night was also broadcast on MTV Asia and CNN Asia.
With Koolwaters now beginning to establish itself as one of the current market leaders in the global dance scene, having booked artistes such as The Chemical Brothers, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, Fergie, Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes, Mauro Picotto, Tall Paul and Marco V for its various club nights, tours and festivals across the globe. Marc and his dedicated team are now heavily concentrating on organizing more overseas events and festivals for 2004 and beyond, whilst continuing to build on the clubs UK success.
With future club tours planned for South and Central America, Asia, Russia, China and a host of European countries it's fair to say Marc’s career and popularity is expect to hit over drive.
The Producer:
Aside from the DJ'ing, the promoting and the jetting around the globe, Marc still finds time to hold down regular radio spots and guest mixes. He also produces his own music and remixes other peoplees, with his latest project being release in June in association with Wella. Marc is currently in the studio with The Conductor and The Cowboy duo (from the Serious label) working on a follow up song to the duo’s hugely successful Top 40 hit, “Feeling This Way”. The single reached number 27 in the UK Charts and was signed to 17 compilations worldwide, including the popular “Annual” by Ministry of Sound. Marc’s own production credits, include “Format” (Nukleuz), “DJ’s make a move” (Loopgroove), “The Poll trax” which Marc co-produced with Steve Thomas, as well as re-mix work for Nu-Life, Nukleuz and Loopgroove.
Marc has recently completed mixed album for a joint compilation CD album by Koolwaters and Wella, of whom Marc is sponsored by. The album, which will see 45,000 CD’s distributed across 1,800 salons through out the UK, consist of a collection of unsigned productions by Marc himself.
The Press / Television / Radio:
In the past Marc has received excellent media coverage across all reputable culture and dance music magazines such as DJ Mag. In 1999 Marc was voted in the top 50 most eligible bachelors in the UK by Company Magazine and was a centerfold feature in The Sun's top ten most eligible men. This lead to Marc’s appearance on several television programs with the most notable being Channel 4’s “Gods Gift” – the show featured a selection of young bachelors who were pitted against one another for a final date with a selected female contestant. The same year also saw Marc received the following titles of ‘DJ of the Year’ and ‘DJ Face of the year’ on top of being dubbed ‘the next Sasha’ by Mixmag.
Overseas Marc has received further more media exposure with television appearances on both occasions for the Koolwaters and Urban Bug Turkish coastline festival - Bug Hole, which received coverage from CNN Asia, MTV Asia as well as all local and national television stations throughout Turkey. He was joined alongside such global superstars as The Chemical Brothers, Orbital and Sasha.
Whilst over in Canada, Asia and Africa touring for Koolwaters he was involved in a series of national advertising campaigns that saw him feature in many of the countries top clubbing bibles and radio shows. Marc has also received similar promotional coverage whilst on international duty for such brands as Ministry of Sound, Cream, Miss Moneypenny’s and Slinky.
In 2001 the popular southwest radio station Galaxy 101, impressed by Marc’s rise in clubland, approached him with an offer of becoming part of the ‘new breed’ of presenters for the station. Marc agreed and began hosting the weekly Friday night dance show. This position last for over a year however, unfortunately due to work commitments becoming too consuming, Marc had to leave his full time slot to concentrate on a new chapter in his career.
Still a regular feature in many of the world’s reputable dance music and culture magazines and websites as well as appearing on radio shows across the globe, Marc’s media presence has always been a growing part of his illustrious career.
“A true clubbers DJ with charm” – Ministry Magazine
Charity work:
Marc is a keen supporter of charity organizations and over the years has been involved in many charity events. In December 2003 Marc featured in Kenya for a Ministry of Sound event that also raised money for a local charity, whose support was lent to helping local children gain an education. Marc has also done charity work for such organizations as the Nordorf-Robins Music Therapy – World DJ day campaign and Annual Birmingham’s Gay pride festival. As well as supporting high profile charity organizations, Marc also supports many regional charities.
With future dates with many of the worlds leading promoters and clubs, on top of wooing crowds around the world make Marc Vedo one of the most versatile DJ’s in the industry. With a collection of high profile bookings already in place for 2004/05, combined with the regular media coverage in all-major dance magazines and radio stations, it’s not hard to notice that Marc is one of the most consistent stars on the DJ circuit today.
“Whatever style I’m playing I like to give the crowd something to write home about, energetic dance music to raise the roof off” – Marc Vedo

ScannersBiography: Scanners
Somewhere in the a.m. David Forbes & Mallorca Lee decided to get together and work on some music that they had been talking about for years. In the smokey haze of the Snake Pit, the studio complex they both used,"Psychic Gymnasium" was realised.
Mallorca - "We wanted to fuse the emotions of trance with the serious intentions you find in progressive house."
David - "Both of us wanted to spend time to experiment and create our own soundscapes without being rushed by deadlines."
Both Lee and Forbes had known each other from back in the turbo charged day's of the Scottish rave scene, where both learned their trade long before red bull was discovered. David was DJ'ing at the now infamous Hanger 13 Club in Ayr, Scotland. While Mallorca was touring with Rodger Hughes in their band Ultra-Sonic. Having mutual respect for each other's "skills to pay the bills" they kept an eye on each other's progress.
In 1996 Mallorca heard a track called "Pressure" by Propulsion, released on Limbo Peaking, a sister label of the much respected Scottish dance label Limbo Records. After finding out it was Forbes behind the track, Lee called him up and asked him if he would like to remix an Ultra-Sonic track for there own label USR (Ultra-Sonic-Recordings). From there David was invited to join the crew on the few but frantic "Research" tour nights along with Ultra-Sonic, Commander Tom, David Forbes (Propulsion) and Kevin "Dinero" from Hook Recordings to name but a few. Paving the way for "trance" music in the predominantly Scottish "hardcore" dance scene.
David moved his studio into the U.S.R. complex in 1997 and cracked on writing numerous floor fillers for labels such as Noom Records, Eve / Telika Records, Slinky and Limbo to name but a few. While Lee focused on Bikini State, a fusion of dance, rock and hip-hop. It was not until 1999 that they had the chance to work together.
Scanners is supported and played out by the DJ elite, Pete Tong, Satioshi Tomeii, Antonny Pappa, Gordon Kaye & Jo Mills to name but a few. "Super Highy-way" is also included on the forthcoming Pasha compilation album released on Blancoynegro.
The boys continue writing / remixing Scanners material in the Snake Pit, only when the green fogs fall's ……..

Nick WeltonDJ Biography:
Nick was bitten by the dance music bug and began his obsession with house music way back in 1991 at the age of 16. Listening to the seminal radio shows of Stu Allan and 808 State in his hometown of Liverpool, he was blown away by the amazing new music coming out of the UK, US and Europe, and immediately started building his now amazing record collection. Shortly after, he aquired his first set of decks, and his first tentative steps were taken towards the successful DJing career he has since enjoyed. Playing at regular private parties and events, Nick began to perfect his famously smooth mixing style and his euphoric piano and vocal packed sets started to become more and more in demand. Between 1992 and 1993, his weekends were spent on the dancefloor of an incredible new club that had opened in Liverpool, known as Cream. Exposed to the deeper, US house music of David Morales, Masters At Work, Roger Sanchez and CJ Mackintosh, Nick's sound began to move towards the powerful and soulful house music he now champions. With a growing wealth of experience and a bulging record collection, he went to University in the 1994 in the city of Hull, determined to make a name for himself as a talented young DJ.
This he achieved extremely quickly, building a strong reputation almost immediately, playing regularly in the city's best house clubs, most notably The Room, alongside such luminaries as Graeme Park, Allister Whitehead and Tom Wainwright. He was also a staple at all big University marquee events & festivals, often infront of huge crowds of over 2,000 people. He was quickly installed as resident DJ in the University Union at weekends, and his famed mixtapes were found in virtually every student house in the city. One of these mixtapes landed on the desk of the promoter from legendary Manchester club Bowlers. An invite to play at the club soon followed, and the reaction of the 3,000-strong dancefloor to his set was so astonishing that Nick was immediately offered a monthly residency at the infamous "LIFE" Saturday all-nighter. With huge, up for it crowds from all over the North West, this long running residency allowed Nick to develop as a DJ and his control of the dancefloor produced hugely memorable nights.
Returning to Liverpool from University in 1997, Nick was quickly made resident DJ at Baty's in Liverpool, one of the city's biggest and most popular house music bars, a residency which lasted several years with great success. He was also playing regularly at Bar XS, and at the hedonistic Garlands afterhours bar, G-Bar. His talents started to get noticed nationwide in 2001, when he finished runner-up in the Ministry Of Sound DJ Competition in London.
2003 was a watershed year for Nick, as he moved to the bright lights of London, attempting to become established on the city's vibrant house music scene. After valuable time spent networking and partying, he began playing more and more private parties and smaller venues around the capital, again making a name for himself with his creative, soulful and inspirational house music sets. His persistence paid off as he became resident DJ at a small, popular night called Around The Houses at The Warwick in Islington and then at The Driver. Word began to spread of his ability to really work and educate a dancefloor, and in October 2005 he was booked to play at Paradiso at The Egg alongside Stonebridge and Ralph Lawson. The rapturous reaction of the Egg dancefloor didn't go unnoticed, and he soon began a hugely successful and long running residency at Out Of Office: Fridazed at The Tabernacle in Shoreditch, a cool, underground club that really established him as a DJ on London house music scene. Playing alongside the likes of Timo Garcia, Fluency and the Soul Avengerz, his sets helped the often electric atmosphere in the club, which are now sadly no more. He also began to spread his wings outside the UK and secured regular gigs at L'Expedition and La Cantina, clubs in Chamonix, France during the winter ski season, providing some much needed warmth in the nightclubs of the Alps.
Into 2007, and Nick finished Runner-Up in iDJ Magazine's Raw Talent competition and played at the first ever UK-DJ's.net night at the EP Lounge in Farringdon, London in November 2007. More recently, he has enjoyed a hugely popular residency at Bar Local in Clapham, as well as playing regularly at the awesome Whitehouse club, also in Clapham, London.
It is with great anticipation that he starts his residency at Beduin. His deep and powerful, funky but always soulful house music will undoubtadly rock the bar to the rafters and his sets are not to be missed.

Stewart RowellDJ: Stewart Rowell
The Story So Far:
Started collecting records at the age of 10. The first 12” I bought was “Good Times” by Chic, a US import on Atlantic Records 1979, one of the biggest disco anthems ever produced, and still one of my all time favourites.
At 16, I was at college, and doing some part time work as a roadie for a guy who had a mobile DJ rig. We did all kinds of parties & events, including weekly discos during the summer, for all the foreign language students down on the south coast in Hastings. These parties took place on the pier and down in the caves, we used to play all the old disco & hip-hop anthems. We even had a very young John Digweed playing at these parties! This was my first introduction to DJ’ing and I bought my first technics at 17.
At 18, I went on holiday to Ibiza. This was 1988, long before Ibiza had become the massively popular holiday destination that it is today, it was still relatively untouched. This was also the very same year that Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling, Nicky Holloway & Johnny Walker visited the Island, and discovered the whole Balearic scene, which was about to blow up in London soon after their return. I remember going to Amnesia, which was still an open-air venue back then, and hearing an unknown DJ called Alfredo play some of the best music I’d ever heard. He was mixing up disco classics like Chic, Donna Summer & Duran Duran, with early Chicago Acid House like Lil’ Louis and DJ Pierre. Then throwing in oddities like Depeche Mode, The Cure or Young MC...This was the Balearic vibe; the Acid House revolution was about to kick off in a big way.
Most of my 20’s were spent studying & then working, however most of my money was spent on music! I was and still am a vinyl junkie, with over 10 000 records in my collection to date. I was DJ’ing at college parties and local clubs in the south of England, and the opportunities were coming more and more.
In 1997, I was offered a summer residency at the now famous Café Mambo in Ibiza. This was a favourite sunset hang out for a lot of clubbers, DJ’s & promoters whilst staying on the Island. I was playing alongside Steve Lawler & Pete Gooding every night, and I made a lot of good contacts throughout the summer, most importantly Darren Hughes of Cream.
Upon returning to the UK, I was being asked to play at Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound, Slinky, Republica & many others on a regular basis. Then is 1999, whilst working as label manager at Neo Records, came my biggest break. Darren Hughes (formerly of Cream), asked me to be a resident at his new London superclub Home, alongside Paul Oakenfold & Steve Lawler.
I was playing the main room every Saturday night for almost 2 years, with some of the biggest DJ’s in the business, Sasha, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia plus many others. It was an unbelievable experience. I also played at the festivals, Homelands, Gatecrasher Soundsystem, South Coast Weekender, and Glastonbury. Then in July 2001, I did an Essential Mix show for Radio 1, which was very well received on the Radio 1 web site.

DJ Alex BIOGRAPHY
Alex has spent the majority of the past 15 years involved in the dance music scene, promoting and pioneering the sound of house music on the south coast of England in the early 90’s with his highly successful Succoso parties.
Up until the mid 90’s he staged numerous events, hosting all of the elite UK DJ’s, and was heavily involved in promoting a few of the first large-scale house events, ‘The Colour Of Love’ 1992 (1,500 people) at The Poole Arts Centre & ‘The Carnival’ (3,500 people) at the Bournemouth International Centre on New Years Eve 1993.
In 1995 Alex became heavily involved with the entertainment and marketing policy at The Manor, Ringwood, returning to the club again in 1998 joining Charlie Chester & Eric Armstrong to help organise the re-launch of the venue. Later that year he joined The Opera House to manage and co-ordinate the national and international marketing activities of Slinky.
In January 2000 he left Slinky to set up his marketing & design business Conspiracy, but for fun continued to successfully promote one off parties.
In 2001 still with an unshakeable event and music bug Alex brought together a team of experienced industry colleagues to plan a 10,000 capacity event on the anniversary of The Jubilee in June 2002 at Somerley House, a privately owned stately home in Hampshire. The show was unfortunately cancelled with only five weeks to go due to an abrupt about turn by local Police. It was a groundbreaking event in many respects and was well on course to be a complete sell-out.
2003 was the year that he started playing out at local venues, despite having been an occasional bedroom mixer since around 1987. His collected 17 year club music history allowing him to access many forgotten tunes from yesterday, whilst keeping his mixes up to date by purchasing records from all over the world via the internet.
In 2003 he promoted and played at the infamous ‘Miami Vice’ party and also began playing regularly at 360, the weekly night promoted by DJ and long time friend Gaz White. This collaboration has proved successful, with ever increasing invitations to play at friends’ bars and clubs at home and abroad.
With a number of national and international event projects being researched in 2004, plus intentions to promote various one off themed parties Alex continues to develop his love of parties & all things musical.

Dj KateWhen Kate Matheou entered the Vestax DJ 2000 competition, after less than a year of mixing, little did she realise where her love of dance music would take her. Her raw passion, energy and infusion of deep, techy, highly charged House music ensured the judges recognised this young DJ. Winning the competition propelled Kate into the London scene, becoming resident at ‘Open’ (formerly Rouge and where the competition was based) and DJing across London at The Velvet Rooms, Gardening Club and her most memorable gig at London’s infamous Alexandra Palace in front of 2000 people. Kate would then continue to gig around the country and start up her own “Kish” nights showcasing some of London’s up and coming young talent.
Fast forward 5 years and Kate would find her career flip around and become a DJ agent representing some of the best DJ talents around the World, including Darren Emerson, Steve Angello and Axwell, causing her own club DJing to take a temporary back seat.
Missing the decks terribly Kate found an outlet for her passion by hosting the Underwater Radio Show on Ministry of Sound FM every week and soon Kate found herself DJing at The End for the Underwater Parties alongside the likes of Krafty Kuts and Tim Deluxe. Her debut at the superclub would see The End opening for an extra hour, unable to stop the crowd buzzing to Kate’s perfect infusion of techno, house and electro.
Having established her own management and PR Company ‘Kish Music’, Kate’s DJing is back taking centre stage and has recently played all over Europe including Spain, Cyprus, Egypt and Greece. Her infectious energy has crowds electrified and truly is an up and coming hero of 2007.
History…
Hailing from South London, Kate found that music was in her system from a young age. The sounds of Marshall Jefferson, Frankie Knuckles and Satoshi Tomeii would consume Kate and she just knew that she had to learn how to DJ as soon as she could. Kate would spend all her pocket money scouring through record shops looking for the imported Nervous and Strictly Rhythm records that she loved so much… Then she discovered Sasha & Digweed’s Renaissance 1 at the tender age of 16 and her whole world changed…

NEAL ANTHONYAt the age of 24, Neil Anthony has covered some ground.
Born in to the house music scene in his native Belfast, Neil quickly decided that it was behind the decks that he belonged and after notching up many hours of painstaking practice, he set about his getting his first gig - at Charlie Heggarty's in neighbouring Bangor.
Several quickly followed, when, because of university commitments, Neil relocated to Dundee in Scotland where he began to make a noticeable impact.
Bewildered by the somewhat stagnant club scene in Dundee, Neil joined forces with promoter Emma Craythorne to create the now seminal Do This Do That clubnight.
Their first party, a sell-out, took place at Dundee University Students' Association in October 1997 and played host to Cream residents Allister Whitehead and Paul Bleasdale. And following this success, the pair assumed a fortnightly residency.
4 years on, Do This Do That is one of the most respected clubnights in the country, and as the sole resident Neil has played a huge part in the club's success, regularly playing alongside a large variety of the world's leading DJs including Erick Morillo, Darren Emerson and Steve Lawler.
As the club continues to grow, so does Neil's reputation for pushing a wide range of quality underground sounds - an attribute which explains why he has become a firm favourite with the club's regulars and visiting DJs alike, with Steve Lawler citing Neil as one of his favourite new DJs during a recent press interview.
Taking time out from his commitments in Dundee, Neil has travelled to Ibiza to DJ for the past three summer seasons. During his time on the island Neil has progressed from playing pre-club venues such as Café Mambo, Café Del Mar and Café Savannah to become one of the island's most exciting residents.
In the summer of 2000, Neil secured a much-coveted residency at the world famous Pacha club. During this time, Neil played main room sets at both the Perfecto and Global Sounds clubnights, standing side by side with many of the scene's biggest names. Neil was also resident at the much talked about Pacha Playa, the highlight being the season's Radio 1 weekend which saw Neil play daytime beach sets to 2000 people, alongside the station's very own Judge Jules and Pete Tong.
Ibiza 2001 saw Neil once again rewarded with residencies at some of the island's leading clubnights. First up, Neil was back room resident at the award winning Subliminal vs. Underwater promotion, Wednesdays at Pacha, where his tough underground sounds provided an extra dimension to an excellent clubnight. The summer also saw Neil installed as main room resident for the hugely successful Xtravaganza clubnight at Privilege, where, on a weekly basis, his tough tribal sounds provided the perfect start to the night.
As 2001 draws to a close, Neil is busier then ever, coupling several Scottish dates with forthcoming dates both at home and abroad, from Guernsey to New York

NICE GUYS DJ DARENBefore they even knew each other they both shared one thing in common throughout their childhood, and that was a staple diet of funky music. Both grew up listening to various styles of music from Mowtown, Soul and Disco to Funk, Jazz and Hip-hop. However in the late eighties/early nineties the nice guys found House!
Both were fortunate enough to witness the growth of various genres of music but it was not until 1997 that the NICE Guys crossed paths and instantly found common ground when it came to sharing their passion for house music with its peace and love feeling it projects.
Numerous years were spent clubbing and experiencing the whole night life scene before they decided to semi retire, hang up their dancing shoes and utilise all those hours spent mixing in the bedroom by bringing it back out to the bars and clubs in and around London. That's not to say you won’t find them shaking their stuff on a dance floor too!
Since making the transition from dance floor to dj booth, the NICE Guys have played their deep, funked up style of house to audiences at many venues across London such as The Cross, Pacha, Egg, Studio 33, Rhythm Factory, Opium Lounge, Lifthouse, Bed Bar, Living Room, The Lane
(to name but a few) and their current monthly residency at Industry. Whether throwing their own party or playing at someone else’s, they remain devoted and always deliver an uplifting vibe to the dance floor.
“DJing for us is certainly a two way effort, we're not 'heads down' DJ's that only play what we want to hear. It's about engaging and communicating with the crowd and feeding off their energy and the unique atmosphere at each and every venue. To see a happy, up for it crowd on a packed dance floor...well, nothing quite beats it! Truth be told if there was enough time between the records we'd be out there dancing with you!"
You can now catch the NICE Guys live on air each and every Tuesday on 90.2 Unknown FM between the hours of 8-10pm (GMT) showcasing their upfront blend of House grooves. Click on the 'Radio' button in the main menu to find out more.
Whether it's twisted disco, Latin, French filtered, US vocals, jazzy, electro, deep or tribal house as James Brown once said "Whatever it is it's got to be funky!"
See you on the dance floor, keep it NICE!

DJ Simon JamesSimon began his career at the tender age of 19 and in 1995 he won the Mixmag DJ Competition, his tape was selected from over 40 thousand entries, which were short-listed to 6 finalists, Simon's skill and musical taste was the chosen one.
This led to his mind blowing set that hit Hard Times in Leeds, which at the time had been voted the ‘Best Club In Britain’. He played a main slot 11-1am, quote from Stephen Raine, Hard Times boss "I knew in five minutes, "you could tell" nodding knowingly.
His musical fusion ranges from Deep, Tribal, House through to progressive, “his sets would rock any club, anywhere in the world” - quote from Ben Turner Muzik.
Up until now Simon has played regularly at Hard Times, hosts to Mixmag and Muzik Magazine parties in Leeds along side DJ's such as Roger Sanchez, Murk and Dave Camacho. 1995 was the year the club received "Club Of The Year", Ben Turner form Muzik Magazine reckoning and stating that "Simon James from Yorkshire - is not far behind some of the established jocks he's usually put up against", review from Muzik.
In 1996 Simon played regularly at Love 2 Be in Sheffield with the likes of Farley Jackmaster Funk, Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez, Mark Moore and Allister Whitehead, including DJ and Muzik Magazine parties.
He then took up a residency at Jakkara in Edinburgh with Danny Howells, “his sets nearly causing riots within the premises, to esthatic clubbers whistling and shouting for more” quote from Mixmag Update".
Over the years Simon has played at clubs such as the legendary Hacienda, Renaissance,
Back 2 Basics, Fabric, Republic, Progress, Whoop it Up, Miss.Moneypennys, The Arches,

TRISCO1994 -- onwards
Trisco has been involved in the House scene from the mid nineties as a record producer and DJ. Initially signed to Whoop Records in 1994 under the name ‘Spanish Fly’, he released two tracks “Sustain” and “Hipster” which both had immediate impact on the progressive house scene.
Together with a residency at Rude, SW1 club (now Pacha, London) Trisco began to develop an upfront funky-tech prog-house style sound with a familiar no-nonsense approach to giving the clubbers what they want. This sound also found it’s way into other residencies at the Ministry of Sound and a two-year residency at his own club night Wonderland Avenue at Plastic People in Oxford Street, London.
Making sweet Musak
In 2000, Trisco released Musak on Vinyl Addiction Records, which began to be touted as as the biggest underground track of the year. Described as “ground breaking” in the music press, Musak became commonplace in DJ’s boxes across the board: from Sasha and Digweed to the Chemical Brothers, Seb Fontaine and Pete Tong. The track had a massive amount of airplay and soon became Pete Tongs Essential new tune (05/05/01).
By then the track had been picked up by Positiva and reached # 27 in the UK Top 40 Chart and had truly become one of the great cross over records and a remix by Steve Lawler added the cherry on the cake for the discerning night owl.
With an impressive list of remixes under his belt; from Kylie to the Chemical brothers, it wasn’t until September 2003 that Trsco released his second single “Ultra” which was huge amongst the big DJ names so much so that it was used on the Radio 1 Summer TV ‘Ad campaign with Seb Fontaine behind the decks.
Since then Trisco has been busy in the studio recently making two more tracks (both double A sides) Lean of Hip/Time released - 14/07/03 and under the alias Wonderland Avenue “Journeyman/Primo Deluxo” released – 08/07/03 on (after a long time out) Whoop! Records.
The future
All looks good for the future with more studio action, having finished the next single “All About You”, promo’s of which are set to catch the last few rays in September on the Terrace in Ibiza this summer (watch out for it’s…BIG).
Work also continues on the forthcoming album, together with a one or two remixes on the Horizon!

GORDON KAYEGordon Kaye began his fixation with music and records from an early age and was Djing in pre-club bars in his Brighton hometown in 1984. The following year he started his own weekly club night, "The Sunshine Playroom" at the Escape Club. This was the most prolific indie night in the U.K. and was frequented by regular faces including Alan McGee, Primal Scream and Norman Cook. The club's music policy continuously pushed musical boundaries and it was not unusual to hear The Velvet Underground next to Motown, Sly Stone, Sixties Psychedelia, New Order, The Beastie Boys, James Brown, Orange Juice or The Teardrop Explodes (the club itself took it's name from a Julian Cope single).
Gordon had moved into a more dance-orientated territory by 1989, spurred by many of the bands whose records he was playing at the time (Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, Stone Roses, The Shamen and Flowered Up.)
By the end of 1990 Gordon was Djing at some of the best dance nights throughout the UK, making regular appearances at such clubs as "Venus", "Renaissance", "Chuff Chuff", "Up Yer Ronson" and "Back to Basics".
Gordon moved into the world of broadcasting, hosting a weekly upfront Dance show on Brighton's Festival Radio.
As a partner in "Joy For Life" records Gordon opened the first branch in Brighton and by 1993 there was a second branch in Nottingham.
1993 became an extremely hectic year with an ever-increasingly busy DJ schedule. Mix Mag also commissioned Gordon to compile and mix their Mix Mag Live Volume 8 "New Bloods" collection alongside John Digweed.
The "Joy For Life" brand evolved quickly to become so much more than just a record shop. In Spring 1994 Gordon was signed to D.M.C.'s Stress Recordings under this moniker and went on to release three singles for them between June 1994 and September 1997. Developing his taste for the recording studio, Gordon produced and remixed material for a whole host of labels, such as Polydor, Shindig, D.M.C., Manifesto, Solid Ground / Strongroom, The Café Del Mar Volume 3 on React, AMPM and Whoop!, using a handful different pseudo names.
"Joy For Life" also became one of the Midlands most popular monthly club nights, booking such guest Djs as Paul Oakenfold, Boy George, Graeme Park and Jon of the Pleased Wimmin.
1995 saw Gordon present his first Radio One "Essential Mix" for Pete Tong.
In 1996 Gordon compiled and mixed one part of a three-pack CD collection for Stress entitled "DJ Culture 3: The International Series". This tied in well with his first tour of Australia, which has become an annual event, now incorporating Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
Gordon set up his own studio in Nottingham and completed his final year of a prestigious Sound Engineering course, which greatly developed his understanding of studio production. He is now working on an abundance of projects in the studio with Nick Hook, (Hook/Deliverance/First Life) and Mike Monday, (Beat Foundation/MM Records) amongst others and a whole host of new material is expected very soon. This includes productions for John Digweed's Bedrock label and more tracks for Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi imprint.
December 1998 saw Gordon join Galaxy Radio's ever-increasing roster of club DJ's. He presents his own monthly mix, which follows Boy George's show on Saturdays as part of "The Galaxy Weekend", (other monthly guests on rotation include Paul Oakenfold). The mix is broadcast on all of Galaxy's regional stations simultaneously between 10.00 and 11pm.
Gordon Kaye was voted number 58 in DJ Magazine's Top 100 International DJ's in November '00 and his Autumn tour of Asia was fully documented in the Christmas '98 issue of DJ Magazine.
Gordon views himself as playing sophisticated underground dance music of all varieties, varying from deep and tribal American house to a harder more progressive European style.

Dj Jodi WisternoffJody Wisternoff is one third of the Bristol based trio, Way Out West. Aged 30, he has been in the business for over half his life, having achieved both commercial and critical success as a producer, remixer and DJ. “I was into music at a really early age. I was kinda brainwashed by psychedelic acid rock,” Jody ponders. “They’re probably some of the earliest musical memories I have, I think. My parents were into it and it probably stored some subliminal images in the recesses of my mind. The whole DIY aspect really interested me as well and I’ve got so much respect for John Peel. He was really out there, on a limb, not giving a fuck. Genius.”During the early 90s, the massive rave scene kicked off and a teenage Jody dived in headfirst. “I was so into it all, the underground scene really took a hold of me. I even put out a few hardcore tunes,” he remembers. It was in 93 that Jody first met his Way Out West co-founder, “Nick and me used to chat whenever he came into the record shop that I worked in but it was actually my dad that suggested we hook up in the studio. Dad even ended up managing us for about 8 years, it was one of those parental things, they wanna take care of their kids. They just didn’t want me rushing into something blind.”Music obsessed Nick Warren spent his teenage years rifling through record shops for punk, reggae and decent pop before the dance scene exploded into youth culture in the late eighties. He DJ’d around Bristol in the lead up to the 90s before opening the South West’s first balearic night, The Wiggle. His ‘anything goes’ approach to DJ’ing soon landed him a residency at the ground-breaking acid house mid-weeker Vision, where he’d slip in The Clash and Frank Sinatra over cutting edge house. In 91 he teamed up with local musicians to set up the legendary night 98 Proof. It was around this time he caught the attention of a group of Bristolian lads. They were Massive Attack. Their admiration led to a long-standing and influential association, including a residency on their US tour and remix work. Two years later he met Jody and they collaborated on a couple of tracks under the Echo guise, the Way Out West remixes were most popular and the duo adopted it for what was to become their main act.The first big track, ‘Ajare’ was released in 94 through deConstruction, its pop hooks, bizarre samples and epic Hindu swirls taking the record to number 62 in the UK singles chart. The harder ‘Domination’ followed, before ‘The Gift’ crashed in at number 15 and established Way Out West as one of the foremost house acts in the UK. Their self-titled first album received huge critical acclaim in 97 and saw them tour across Europe with live shows at Glastonbury, MTV parties and the MIDEM festival in France. Switching to Distinctive records in 2000, second album ‘Intensify’ followed, bringing with it singles ‘Intensify,’ ‘Stealth’ and ‘Mindcircus,’ another top 40 hit and dance chart number 1. ‘Don’t Look Now’ has been just over two years in the making. “With our music we take the approach that you should do your best, no matter how long it takes,” muses Jody. “Do your best or don’t bother at all. There’s been so many new things already done in terms of dance music, it’s difficult to move in new directions especially with the state of dance music in recent years. The enthusiasm gets knocked out of you by all the doom-mongers saying the scene’s dead. It’s not dead by any stretch of the imagination…it’s just a transitional period.”And as dance music has evolved, so too have Way Out West. What originally began life as a producer based outfit has grown over the years. With ‘Intensify,’ vocalists included Kirsty Hawkshaw, Ally Keenan and Tricia Kelshall. It was this development that made Jody and Nick decide they wanted to become more of a band. “We wanted a bit more of a culture going on, now we’ve got our secret weapon there’s a lot more unity. It’s nice. Really nice,” reflects JodyWay Out West’s “secret weapon” is Omi. Singing since she was 16, Omi first auditioned for Way Out West about 7 or 8 years ago with what she describes as her ‘shouty rave diva incarnation.’ “I hadn’t really worked out my vocal style at that time,” she confides. She was managed by Jody’s dad in one band before opting to take a more experimental route, working with the likes of Starecase, Timo Maas, an all girl drum ‘n’ bass outfit, Eden and one Peter Gabriel. “The first time I saw him I was waiting to meet the guys when he popped his head round the door to say hi – and I didn’t recognise him,” she shrieks. “There’d been a power cut in the hall we were rehearsing in and he just got on the piano and started belting out all these songs whilst I sat in complete awe, watching him sing by candle light.” Her influences range from Annie Lennox (“she’s the shit”) to Ella Fitzgerald, David Bowie and PJ Harvey. The past two years have been a learning curve for Omi as well as Jody and Nick. “This whole US tour has been amazing, I’ve seen so many places. A lot of it has been airport, hotel, club, soundcheck, hotel, food, club, stage, hotel, sleep, airport, plane and so on, but the feeling of performing as a band in front of 1,000s of people…it’s just impossible to compare it.”

DJ Darien JDarien J
Darien's love for house music started back in 1991. Mixtapes from DJs such as Danny Rampling, Billy Nasty and Laurent Garnier, bought at Camden Market, inspired him to become a DJ and helped form his balaeric style; transending the bounderies between house and breaks: from funky through chunky to tech and prog .
Former bar manager and DJ of 10 years Darien really knows how to create and build an atmosphere. He is equally at home playing warm-up as he is playing peak-time or early hour slots. His professional approach ensures that he's never just playing to the crowd but also, more importantly, for the crowd.
Founder of the infamous Redeye warehouse parties in Stoke Newington 2001-2003 and a familiar face in the North London underground party scene, Darien is always the first on the dancefloor and, more often than not, the last to leave!
Darien has also recently tried his hand at some production and his 'Your Jam '05' bootleg currently doing the rounds on CDR is set to be one of this year's summer anthems.

A Gentleman and a Legend The 'P' in Alex P could represent a number of things. Presenter. Producer. Phenomenal crowd-pleaser. You name it, he's achieved it in Club Land. Alex P is Ibiza's longest-serving DJ, with a career in the industry spanning 15 years. He knows exactly how to whip the dance floors into a frenzy with the tunes clubbers want to hear. A true veteran who has graced DJ booths in every corner of the globe, Alex is renowned for playing dance music to the masses.
Alex's career in the entertainment industry began rather unglamorously in his early teens when he assisted a local DJ at functions such as weddings and fetes! He later became part of the UK Warriors break-dancing crew, travelling with different bands and appearing on various kids' TV shows. Alex has a diverse taste in music, and he is a talented musician, playing bass guitar, trumpet and drums. When he seriously discovered dance music, he hit the club scene in a big way, and eventually secured a regular spot at Legends nightclub in London. The success of his night catapulted Alex to stardom and before long, he took centre stage at The Astoria's celebrated Crazy Club night. By then an Ibiza regular, Alex eventually set up home on the island, keen to introduce his individual style to every true clubber's Mecca. His popularity was not long unnoticed and he was soon head-hunted by the owners of KU and Amnesia. Alex swiftly took up residencies at both clubs.
Since then, his career has sky-rocketed and he has been resident DJ at many superclubs including God's Kitchen, Miss Moneypenny's, Cream, Clockwork Orange, Passion, Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound and the infamous Space club in Ibiza. He has also played regular gigs at Brighton's Pussycat Club, The Gallery in London and Garlands in Liverpool, to name but a few. The winning partnership of Alex P and Brandon Block led to the infamous prime-time Friday night show on London's Kiss FM, where every week over 1.5 million people listened in to their mad-cap antics. The show was a phenomenal success, with Alex's unique, charismatic style proving him to be a natural on air and on screen.
Alex is currently enjoying further on-screen success as a guest-presenter on MTV's 'Medonism' Summer tour, a rough guide to the Mediterranean including coverage of his and Brandon's club appearances. Future plans include a similar tour in the Winter, featuring the DJs playing at some of the world's top ski resorts.Alex is also widely regarded as a talented re-mixer and producer, and he has a broad and diverse repertoire of music. His several albums are testament to this, as he has produced compilations such as Clockwork Orange "Havin' it in Ibiza I & II, "Club Ibiza I & II", "Up your Ronson", "A Decade of Ibiza" and more recently "Kiss Anthems".
Using his re-mixing talent, Alex has transformed many a track into a clubland classic. Examples of this include PeeZee & Blocko "Release Yourself" which was a huge hit on the garage scene, Dead Or Alive's classic "You Spin Me Round" and the hip-hop inspired Black Sheep "North, South, East, West".There is no doubt that Alex P's career will continue to flourish and with many exciting projects to look forward to, he is bound to keep on surprising us. Dj Peter borgPeter Borg resident Simply Salacious Parties
Peter began his love affair with music from a very young age; watching mini-pops, listening to radio Caroline and being an avid reader of smash hits, he started buying records at the age of 8.
Peter started his dj career playing his records for the first time at his primary school discos aged 10 after his teacher’s heard him talking to friends about his records. He loved the thrill of being the entertainer and dreamed about a career in the industry. Little did he know, his dreams would come true.
He began making tapes of his records to listen to on his Walkman on the way to school. Obviously at such an age he was unable to buy all the records he wanted, turning to recording them from the radio and editing them with a twin tape machine.
At 15, while all his friends chose to do their school work experience in retail, Peter chose London’s Choice FM radio. After being invited into the studio by the likes of Commander B, Daddy Ernie and Terry Peters, it was here that Peter felt the radio bug and was taught the basics. He was even allowed to use studio 2 to practice.
At 16 Peter purchased his 1210’s and got a Saturday job to finance his vinyl addiction. At 18, still making mix-tapes, a friend introduced him to the landlord of a pub in Streatham who was looking for a Saturday night DJ. Peter held this residency for over 2 years but then gave it up to begin partying.
He then became resident for the infamous Surrey mansion parties playing 8-hour sets! Peter also began playing in some of London’s top clubs: Mayfair club, Rouge, The Saint, Café de Paris etc, as well as playing in Europe….
Famed for his long sets lasting up to 10 hours where you can expect a full on vocal journey with lots of classics thrown in too and if you have been lucky enough to catch his closing sets you know what we mean when we say a happy spiritual journey!
“Everywhere I play is a party atmosphere,” says Peter, which is why he keeps the party jumping!

Dj JavanProfile Javan
For the past 7 years, Guernsey based Javan has been arguably the busiest and
most consistently in-demand DJ in the Channel Islands. Often playing sets
of 4 or 5 hours you will be taken on a provocative roller coaster ride
through vocal, US, nu-jazz, funky, electro and tech house.
After many hazy Ibiza-spent summers in the mid-nineties Javan found his love
for house music and decided to bring a big slice of the vibe back home. His
first break came in 1998 when he was invited to be a resident for Global
Dance at The Monkey and has not looked back since. The past 3 1/2 years has
seen Javan as a weekly resident at the ever popular Baloos Grooves with DJ's
TK and Giles and a monthly residency at the uber-cool Laska. Never afraid
to experiment, Javan often incorporates live musicans into his sets with
great success with such talents as Colin Falla (sax/flute), Simon Prince
(bongos) and Vanessa Gomes (vocals). 2003/04/05 has seen him take his
collaborations to Guernsey's outdoor music festival, The Vale Earth Fair to
rave reviews and as also appeared at Frisky on the Rise in Battersea.
Always looking to develop the club scene in the Channel Islands, he has
taken Baloos Grooves to the island's 600 capacity club, Club54, under the
guise of iCandy. 17 March will see the third instalment of this night which
looks set to go from strength to strength. Javan will also be supporting
the legendary Mark Doyle (Tokyo Disco / Hed Kandi) at the same venue on the
following week. With a healthy following built up in his home town you can
be sure that the party follows him wherever he plays so look out for some
new satisfied looking faces on the dancefloor!

Dj mascherucciI’ve been djing for as long as I’m remember. I used to do party’s in the playground of the church since I was about 14 and I used to go to the electronic shop and buy and built my own amplifier . It was about 50 watts each channel…..my father still using it to play the guitar now……wow what along time ago…
I’ve always been in the music industry since I was 10, I used to play the snap drum in a military march band. Than after few years I moved on to a drum kit. So for me music is a very, very, very big part of my life, I just can’t live with out it. My father was against the fact I was going to be a dj but that didn’t stop me. That was my dream and no one could stop me.
You know every night it’s the people that at the end of the evening who thank me for the great night they had…..that is better than anything else and what makes worth wile doing
It all start professionally in Frascati my home town in Penny night club, after watching my mentors Massimo Berardi and Luca Cucchetti for nearly a year, and I do mean literally just watch and not talk or ask or move. I’d watch them play every week end, and one day I was given a shot and that was the start of my career.
The high light of my career and my best gig was in Toronto in the year 2000. I was asked to go to play At the Hullabaloo raves twice, February and October. The first time it was a shock coming from Guernsey, in that period I was a resident dj in N10, where I was used to playing for about 600 people maximum and in Toronto I stepped in the arena with about 5000 people in front of me and it was a shock but such a great experience.
The best night for me has to include:1) best equipment2) best sound system…very loud3) Best lighting show with a Laser show in it4) music starting from Uplifting house at about 128 BPM passing to deep house 135 BPM to trance 140 BPM and finish with the big finale of progressive at about 145 BPM5) Dancers really giving all they have to follow me.But most important of all is The people…..yes People in the club is the most necessary ingredient to make the night really unforgettable, and you can see at the end of the night when they all are staying in and you are just about to put the last record and everyone shout and scream and they are all sweating. It’s great feeling . Once the last record is finish they all are shouting for one more……what can I say…that is what makes you believe that you really have done a good job.
I aspire , even if I’m getting old , to reach the level of Paul Van Dyke, Tiesto and so on. I’ve to thank ,in a way, Massimo Berardi for letting me watchin him work. But most important to me is to believe in your self. Dreams can come true especially if you persevere on it. That’s what I do and I try to tell anyone that ask for my help try, try and try, work hard and one day you will rewarded.
One day Dan Hadmill and I we were sitting in the restaurant and I said to him: “you know Dan we should create a dj company and produce some cds, we can do it!” He looked at me and he said: “yes you are right leave it with me…” a Few days after he told me that he had spoken to his family and they were ready to invest some money in this project. So since that day we and the other guys, Phil, Peter, Ray, Tom, ect…start to work flat out to make it happen. To see it coming alive makes me really proud. We know we have long way to go but believe me, I’m a fighter by nature and nothing and no one will stop us. We will do it big.
in a years time I hope to be djing around Europe with the guys. In 5 years time djing around the world with the guys and In 10 years time watching and assisting my son or my daughter djing in the same company around the world…and maybe semi-retired.
As a dj I wood like to make it big, but not for the money as such believe me, mostly because I would like to play more and more in various places for lots of peoples, and what I would like to see mostly is my prodigys , one such as Dan, to achieve even more than what I did. I will do anything is in my power to see my guys or anyone willing to learn to succeed.
I don’t have much of spare time so I like to spend that rare moment of relaxation with my beautiful wife Lenka and my dog Patatina. Go out and take all that precious time to remind my wife how much I love her….at the same time rest my ears from all that djing.
